Eight held in Odisha land scam, Andhra house burglary

Odisha TV reports that Golanthara police arrested four members of an inter-state robbery gang on August 15 for luring victims with cheap land and gold offers before robbing them. The gang allegedly used police sirens and switched number plates to avoid detection. Police seized Rs 6.92 lakh in cash, 14 mobile phones, a Wi-Fi device, two fake number plates, an Innova car and eight pieces of fake gold.

The Hans India reports that Prakasam district police arrested four persons on July 30 for a daytime burglary in Maddipadu village. The accused broke into a locked house on July 23 and stole 26 sovereigns of gold jewellery worth Rs 18 lakh. The suspects, who included a repeat offender who met an accomplice in jail, were traced through their Innova car. Police recovered 157.5 grams of gold, Rs 51,000 cash and the vehicle.
