Central Railway GM hoists flag on 80th Independence Day

Rajeev Shrivastava, General Manager of Central Railway, hoisted the national flag at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus headquarters in Mumbai on August 15, 2026, marking the 80th Independence Day. He reviewed the Railway Protection Force parade and addressed the gathering, praising railway staff for working day and night in remote areas and challenging conditions to ensure safety and punctuality.

Shrivastava announced the upgradation of 22 suburban services on the CSMT-Karjat/Khopoli section from 12 to 15 coaches, raising the total 15-coach services on Central Railway to 54. He also said 11 Mail and Express trains have been upgraded to regular train status. The event included a dog squad presentation and cultural performances by the Central Railway Cultural Academy, which continued despite heavy rain.

Shrivastava congratulated Head Constable Shankar Shivswami Edle of the RPF Zonal Cyber Cell for receiving the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service. He thanked the Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation and the media for their support. Tricolour balloons were released to symbolise the spirit of freedom, and the celebrations were live-streamed on Central Railway’s YouTube channel.
