Ankita Dhyani clocks personal best 4:06.75 in Portland 1500m

India's Ankita Dhyani ran a personal best of 4:06.75 seconds to finish second in the women's 1500m at the Stumptown Twilight meet in Portland, USA, early Sunday. The 24-year-old improved her previous best by more than five seconds at the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger event. Her time is the fastest by an Indian this season and the third fastest in Asia.

Ecuador's Carmen Alder Caisalitin won in 4:06.40, with Eleanor Fulton of the US third in 4:09.36. Ankita's mark is the fourth fastest ever by an Indian, the national record of 4:04.78 is held by KM Deeksha. Ankita won 5000m bronze at the 2023 Asian Championships and 3000m silver at the 2024 Asian Indoor Championships, and competed in the 5000m at the 2022 Asian Games and 2024 Paris Olympics.
