Chandigarh to launch single-window system for Sarangpur concert venue

The Chandigarh administration is building an online single-window system for organisers planning concerts and large-scale events at the upcoming Sarangpur facility. Applicants will submit event details, venue requirements, expected footfall and safety documents online, with an integrated system processing approvals instead of organisers collecting multiple NOCs from departments including police, municipal corporation, fire department and estate office.

The move aims to simplify approvals and reduce delays caused by coordination between agencies. A temporary concert ground on 8-10 acres opposite the IRB complex will come up first, while a permanent concert-cum-exhibition hub on about 25 acres is proposed to host national and international events and cut Chandigarh's reliance on Mohali and Panchkula for large concerts.

The streamlined mechanism follows repeated concerns during major concerts at Sector 34 over traffic congestion, crowd management and public inconvenience. Officials said the single-window system will provide major relief to organisers who earlier had to coordinate separately with various departments for security, traffic, fire safety, electricity and venue permissions.
