Cockroach Janta Party formed after CJI’s youth remark

The CJP spread quickly on social media, where a cockroach emoji in a user's bio signalled solidarity. Protests followed in multiple states, blending online satire with street mobilisation. According to a Frontline report, the movement shows how authoritarian symbols can be reversed, with the cockroach evolving from an institutional insult into an emblem of defiance. The CJP continues to organise unemployed youth through digital campaigns and public demonstrations.
