Congress sends legal notice to Amit Malviya over Rahul Gandhi national anthem post

Sandeep Dikshit, a Congress leader, has sent a legal notice to BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya over a post on the BJP's official X account that accused Rahul Gandhi of insulting the National Anthem. The notice alleges that a technical glitch caused the anthem to replay accidentally during the Rachnatmak Congress convention on August 13, and demands the immediate removal of the post and an unconditional apology.

In the video shared by BJP4India, Rahul Gandhi is seen shaking hands and walking on stage as the National Anthem plays. The BJP post said Gandhi had 'disgraced' the anthem and exposed his 'anti-national attitude'. The legal notice, served by lawyers Amrish Ranjan Pandey and Ambuj Dixit, states the incident was an accidental technical error, not a deliberate act of disrespect. It cites the complete audio-visual record as evidence that the anthem was duly played earlier and leaders paid respects.

The notice comes amid a separate row between the Congress and BJP over the rendition of Vande Mataram at the Congress headquarters on Independence Day. Malviya had earlier posted that Sonia Gandhi became 'agitated' and asked workers to stop the full rendition of the national song. The Congress has not commented on that allegation yet.
