Gen Alpha joins fight for school rights, says Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal said on Independence Day that children from Generation Alpha have begun demanding better facilities in government schools, calling it a sign of 'true freedom'. The former Delhi chief minister and AAP convenor said in a post on X that students in Hamirpur, Dehradun and Barmer are protesting for desks, clean water, toilets and teachers.

Kejriwal added that after nearly eight decades of Independence, many government schools still suffer from dilapidated buildings, leaking roofs and a shortage of staff. He claimed the AAP government in Punjab had improved school conditions, enabling students to qualify for NEET and JEE exams.

The remarks come as debates over public education infrastructure continue across states. Gen Alpha refers to those born between 2012 and 2024, following Gen Z (1997-2012).
