Daisy Shah backs IAS officer Mundhe’s food safety crackdown

Actor Daisy Shah has backed Maharashtra FDA commissioner Tukaram Mundhe's strict action against food adulteration, calling it real patriotism on Independence Day. Hindustan Times reports that Shah said protecting food quality is a powerful step towards a healthier society. The crackdown has drawn support from other celebrities including Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Paresh Rawal and Rakesh Bedi.

Mundhe has led raids and shut down several iconic eateries in the state. The Hindu notes that the Bombay High Court has cautioned him against 'using a sword to kill a mosquito'. The officer, who has been transferred 25 times in 21 years, says he follows a three-point framework: every action must be legal, morally correct and in the public interest. His drive continues with inspections and show cause notices across Maharashtra.
