Suriya’s Vishwanath And Sons beats DC to become 4th highest Tamil grosser of 2026

Suriya and Mamitha Baiju's Vishwanath And Sons has collected Rs 58.15 crore net in its opening weekend in India, surpassing Lokesh Kanagaraj's DC and five other Kollywood films to become the fourth highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026, Koimoi reports. The romantic drama earned Rs 20.55 crore on its third day, a 34% jump from the opening day of Rs 15.35 crore. Against a reported budget of Rs 130 crore, the film has recovered 44.73% of its investment.

According to Koimoi, Vishwanath And Sons now trails Thaai Kizhavi (Rs 62.46 crore), Jana Nayagan (Rs 196.97 crore), and Karuppu (Rs 198.18 crore) in the 2026 Tamil box office rankings in India. The film registered the third-highest opening weekend of the year in Kollywood, behind only Karuppu (Rs 68 crore) and Jana Nayagan (Rs 124.75 crore over four days).

DC, meanwhile, earned Rs 4.5 crore on its second Sunday and Rs 54.76 crore net in 10 days in India, according to Koimoi. Tracktollywood.com reported DC's 10-day worldwide gross at Rs 82 crore and said the film is on track to enter the Rs 100 crore club globally. The same outlet noted that Tamil Nadu's subdued performance has been a dampener, while Kerala has delivered exceptional results for the Kollywood release.
