Delhi Traffic Police forms committee to ease Chhattarpur congestion

Delhi Traffic Police has formed a committee of auto and e-rickshaw drivers to tackle congestion around Chhattarpur Metro station in Mehrauli. The stretch near CDR Chowk and Mandir Wali Road has been choked due to heavy pedestrian movement, constant streams of autos, e-rickshaws and Gramin Seva vehicles, especially during peak hours.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Southern Range, recently inspected the area and spoke with drivers of public transport vehicles. Officials found that haphazard stopping and parking of autos and e-rickshaws was a major cause of the traffic jam. The new committee will coordinate with drivers to ensure vehicles park in a single line without blocking the carriageway or pedestrian movement.

The Traffic Inspector of Mehrauli and local personnel have been directed to monitor the stretch and take strict enforcement action against those violating parking and traffic norms.
