Drug peddlers killed SI Nabajit Das, says Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said credible information indicates drug peddlers were behind the death of Sub-Inspector Nabajit Das. Das, in-charge of Laisong police outpost, was killed after being hit by a car during naka checking in Dima Hasao district on Friday evening. Police have arrested two persons, while two others are absconding.

The vehicle, registered in Nagaon district, was found abandoned and is being examined for links to a suspected drug-trafficking case. Sarma also said traffickers have changed routes to bring narcotics from Myanmar, now passing through Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh and then Tinsukia. The chief minister reiterated the government's tough stance and said a cartel with Punjab links was dismantled in Guwahati three days ago. Investigation into Das's death continues.
