Four arrested in Assam for Facebook death threat to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Four people, including a tailor whose Facebook account was allegedly used, have been arrested in Morigaon over a death threat posted against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during his Independence Day address. The comment, purportedly from an account in the name of Abdul Mutaleb, threatened to kill the CM for Rs 1 crore.

Mutaleb has denied making the threat and said someone opened a fake account using his name and photo. “The person who actually did this should be investigated and arrested,” he told police. His father Abdul Khaleq, brother Abu Taleb, and another youth, Rashidul Islam, were also taken into custody for questioning.
