Every player tries to be a role model: Sunil Gavaskar

Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar said every player aspires to be a role model as they rise through the ranks, but it is human to occasionally fail those standards. Speaking at the launch of Midwicket Stories in Mumbai, he did not refer to any specific incident from this year's Indian Premier League.

Gavaskar noted that social media spreads the fallout of such moments far faster than before. "In the heat of the moment things happen… anybody can snap," he said. He recalled the tradition of players from opposing teams sharing drinks and discussing the day's play after a Test match, a practice he compared to modern IPL players interacting post-match.
