Fact check: Nayanthara’s bald temple pictures are AI-generated

Viral pictures showing actress Nayanthara with a bald head outside a temple are AI-generated, multiple sources have confirmed. The images, circulated on social media, used an old photograph of her visit to the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in April 2026 with her husband Vignesh Shivan. Times Now News reports that the original photo was tampered with to add a bald look, and some users spotted an AI watermark. Nayanthara and her team have not yet responded.

The fake pictures led to speculation that she had shaved her head for her upcoming film Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups. However, Greatandhra notes the bald look was digitally added. The Geetu Mohandas directorial, co-produced by and starring Yash, also features Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria. It releases on August 26, 2026. Nayanthara is also shooting for SVC63 with Salman Khan, expected in 2027.
