Awarapan 2, the sequel to Emraan Hashmi's 2007 film, is a box office success with India net collections of Rs 67.46 crore. While the film has received largely positive reviews, fans on social media have humorously noted the absence of a kissing scene featuring Hashmi, known in his early career as the 'serial kisser'. Not all reactions were negative. Some fans appreciated Hashmi moving past his earlier image, with comments like 'He is married. He himself toned it down and stepped away from erotic movies. At least appreciate that.' Hashmi, in an old interview with Hindustan Times, spoke about India's obsession with his former image and his efforts to show versatility.
