TV actor Antara Banerjee arrested for train blade attack

Television actor Antara Banerjee was arrested on August 12 after she allegedly attacked a Railway Protection Force constable with a razor blade on the Aravali Express. The altercation began when she refused to vacate a reserved seat in an AC coach despite holding only a sleeper-class ticket, police said. She was travelling to Surat for a shoot.

Banerjee, known for Ektaa Kapoor's Kasautii Zindagii Kay and other TV shows, abused the RPF team when asked to move. She was taken into custody by Borivali railway police and later released after a notice under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Witnesses said she appeared distressed after failing to get an AC coach ticket.

Banerjee, 31, made her acting debut in 2012 and has worked in shows like Savdhaan India and the film The Shaukeens. She reportedly demanded to be arrested and refused to call relatives or a lawyer.
