Fire guts Gurugram liquor store, stock worth lakhs destroyed

A massive fire gutted a liquor store in Udyog Vihar, Gurugram, on Saturday afternoon, destroying stock worth lakhs. Fire officials said no injuries or casualties were reported. Firefighters took nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby premises.

The fire department received a call at 12.36 pm after passersby noticed smoke. Five fire tenders from Sector 29, Sector 30, Udyog Vihar, Bhimnagar, and one from Maruti Suzuki rushed to the spot. Officials suspect a short circuit in a refrigerator inside the store triggered the fire, which was fueled by highly flammable alcohol. The store was closed for Independence Day when the fire broke out.

Liquor bottles and other stock were extensively damaged. Fire station officer Naresh Yadav said there was no report of anyone trapped. The exact value of the loss is yet to be ascertained.
