Four arrested in electrocution death of forest beat officer

Police in Kothagudem district have arrested four persons for the death of forest beat officer Banoth Naveen, who was electrocuted by illegal electric traps set by poachers. The accused were caught after a complaint was filed by Divisional Revenue Officer Anarkali at Burgampad police station.

On the night of August 11, Naveen and his team had gone to Nakirepet forest area following a tip-off about electric snares used to hunt wild animals. While searching the site, he touched a live wire and died.

The four accused, Avula Nagi Reddy, Dasari Naresh, Thati Veerababu, and Kannedari Ananthaiah, were arrested from Lakshmipuram and Nagineniprolu Reddipalem villages. They will be produced before a court for judicial remand, officials said.
