Global Suryapath Tiranga relay marks 80th Independence Day

Indian missions across the globe conducted a 19-hour relay of flag-hoisting on Saturday, named Suryapath Tiranga, to mark the country's 80th Independence Day. The campaign began at the High Commission in Suva, Fiji at 1:30 am IST and ended at the consulate in San Francisco at 8:30 pm IST, connecting 54 missions and posts.

Following the path of the rising sun, the flag was hoisted successively in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. The initiative, part of the broader Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, included mass singing of Vande Mataram and the national anthem. The Ministry of Culture said the relay created a sense of shared celebration across time zones.
