ભારત સરકારે 10 ઓગસ્ટના ગેઝેટ નોટિફિકેશન દ્વારા દર ત્રીજા ઇંધણ આઉટલેટ પર CNG, LNG, બાયોફ્યુઅલ કે EV ચાર્જિંગ જેવા નવી પેઢીના વૈકલ્પિક ઇંધણની સુવિધા ફરજિયાત કરી છે. કમિશનિંગના ત્રણ વર્ષમાં આ વ્યવસ્થા અમલમાં મૂકવી પડશે. પ્રદૂષણ ઘટાડવા, ક્રૂડ આયાત ઘટાડવા અને ઊર્જા સુરક્ષા વધારવા આ પગલું લેવાયું છે.
