Himachal announces dates for patwari, panchayat secretary exams
The Story in Brief
The Himachal Pradesh State Selection Commission (HPRCA) has announced the dates for tablet-based recruitment exams for patwari and panchayat secretary posts. The patwari exam (post code 25027) will be held from 23 to 30 November, and the panchayat secretary exam (post code 26005) from 4 to 6 December, according to commission secretary Dr Vikram Mahajan.
Candidates will be able to download their roll number and admit card from the HPRCA website (hprca.hp.gov.in) one week before the exam. The test centre and roll number will also be sent by SMS to candidates' mobile phones. The commission has urged applicants to regularly check the website, SMS and email for updates. For more information, candidates can call 01972-222204.
Indian Opinion Analysis
The tablet-based format is a departure from traditional pen-and-paper exams, which may test candidates' digital literacy as much as their subject knowledge. With the admit card link going live only a week before the first test, applicants have a narrow window to download it and verify their assigned centre. The staggered schedule also means those applying for both posts face two separate rounds of preparation in late November and early December. The commission has not specified how many candidates applied or the number of vacancies, leaving the scale of competition unclear. The real test of the new format will come on 23 November, when the first batch of patwari candidates sits the exam.
