IP University withdraws spot round results after technical error

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIU) withdrew spot round 2 online counselling results for five undergraduate and professional courses on Saturday after a technical error in the counselling software led to inadvertent seat allotments. The affected programmes include BCA, BBA, BTech, BCom (Hons) and LLB. The university said the glitch was discovered during internal verification and has ordered rechecking of the results.

The development comes a day after the university announced the schedule for spot round 3 offline counselling from August 23. In a separate notice, GGSIU withdrew that schedule and said a fresh one would be uploaded. Times of India reported that Vice-Chancellor Mahesh Verma said the error was not on the university's part but that the National Informatics Centre (NIC), which hosts the portal, mistakenly included candidates who had withdrawn or had not consented to participate. NIC has been asked to explain.

Times Now reported that candidates who participated in spot round 2 are advised to wait for revised results. Times of India noted that a parent of an applicant, Aram Kumar, demanded a committee to investigate irregularities, saying results for certain programmes had been cancelled three times and the portal did not show vacant seats. The university could not provide the exact number of affected candidates.
