Kerala University cancels exam results, drops K-REAP software

Kerala University withdrew the results of its FYUGP semester 4 and semester 1 supplementary exams on Saturday after widespread errors were found. The university syndicate also decided to scrap the K-REAP software and revert to the in-house system it previously used. K-REAP was introduced during the previous LDF government's tenure.

Errors included results not showing on student profiles, results appearing for non-existent subjects, changes in improvement-exam marks, and failed subjects being marked as passed. The syndicate noted that the software lacks facilities for credit transfer, awarding credits for online courses, and allowing early completion of studies. The university has no direct MoU with the Maharashtra-based developer, and exam data is not handed over to the university, raising security concerns.

The syndicate argued that since the university's computer centre has no control over K-REAP, it cannot make corrections. Unlike MG University and Calicut University which use their own software, Kerala University adopted K-REAP under government pressure, replacing its successful in-house system. The upcoming October-November FYUGP semester 1, 3 and 5 exams may be affected.
