IUML passes resolution against Minister PK Basheer over college bribery row

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has passed a resolution against PWD Minister PK Basheer at its monsoon camp in Tenhipalam, Malappuram, demanding he step down as general secretary of Kondotty EMEA College. The resolution follows widespread allegations that large bribes were being collected for management quota admissions at the college, where Basheer serves as general secretary.

The resolution said exorbitant bribes were demanded for undergraduate, postgraduate and BEd seats, violating party policy. It noted the college, built on free land with funds from party MPs and MLAs, was meant to uplift educationally backward Muslim students but has become a commercial hub. The resolution also criticised the Minister for preparing retaliatory action against MSF leaders who had planned protests over the issue.
