Jayasurya’s Mayan – Chapter 1 resumes shoot in Kerala

The Kerala schedule of Jayasurya-starrer Mayan – Chapter 1 has begun in Peermade, Kottayam, the makers announced on social media. The film's foreign schedule was completed in Russia earlier this month. Independence Day celebrations were held on the set, with Peermade MLA Cyriac Thomas hoisting the national flag as cast and crew joined in.

Directed by Jithin K Jose, Mayan – Chapter 1 is his second directorial venture after the Mammootty-starrer Kalanakaval. The mystery thriller explores the lesser-known ritual of vipareetha aaraadhana and other obscure traditions believed to exist in Kerala. The film stars Nyla Usha, Vijay Babu, Aiswarya Raj and Jibin Gopinath in prominent roles. Jithin co-wrote the screenplay with veteran filmmaker Raffi.

The film reunites Jithin with his Kalanakaval technical team, including cinematographer Faisal Ali, music director Mujeeb Majeed and editor Praveen Prabhakar. Produced by Rajeev Govindan under Magic Moon Productions, Mayan – Chapter 1 comes as Jayasurya awaits the release of Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer and Titans. He also has Operation Tral, Ratheesh Vega's directorial debut, in the pipeline.
