Jinder Mahal blames India’s lack of wrestling infrastructure for low WWE representation

Former WWE champion Jinder Mahal has said he is surprised but not demanding of the small number of Indian wrestlers in WWE, telling Denise Salcedo that Indian talent must first reach the level of stars like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. He said there is simply no proper wrestling infrastructure in India yet.

Mahal pointed to promising non-WWE talent, praising Kevin Malik of WXM as a 'Jeff Hardy type' with quiet charisma and agility. He urged fans to watch Malik's match against Zack Sabre Jr. on YouTube, adding that India has 'lit wrestlers' who lack the right platform.

Mahal, who was WWE champion in 2017, stressed that Indian performers need training and exposure to compete internationally, but he expressed optimism that the future will bring more representation from the country.
