JSW Mahanadi Power settles dispute with Raigarh Champa Rail

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has disposed of an appeal by JSW Mahanadi Power Company Ltd against Raigarh Champa Rail Infrastructure Pvt Ltd after the two parties reached an amicable settlement, legal.economictimes.indiatimes.com reports. A joint memo recording the settlement was filed, and the NCLAT Chennai bench, comprising Justice N Seshasayee and Jatindranath Swain, took it on record.

The dispute arose from unpaid invoices under a 2014 coal transportation agreement. Both companies had undergone insolvency proceedings, and JSW Energy Ltd emerged as the resolution applicant for each. The NCLT had ruled in favour of Raigarh Champa Rail in September 2021, and JSW Mahanadi Power appealed. During the appeal, interim orders directed a 50 per cent payment mechanism on outstanding and future invoices, which both parties complied with.

After JSW Energy's resolution plans for both entities were approved, the sides entered settlement talks and executed a settlement agreement on August 6, 2026, closing the dispute. The NCLAT disposed of the appeal in terms of that memo.
