Kampati couple asks Khammam commissioner to name baby after surgery help

A couple in Khammam district asked municipal commissioner Abhishek Agastya to name their two-month-old daughter after he helped arrange Rs 14 lakh for her life-saving heart surgery. The baby, born on May 9 to Kampati Rakesh and Madhavi, was diagnosed with a heart ailment 12 days later.

The infant's grandmother, Narasamma, a Group IV employee with the Khammam Municipal Corporation, brought the matter to Agastya's attention. The commissioner connected the family with an NGO working in healthcare, which arranged the funds. The operation was performed on July 28, and the child recovered well.

The parents brought the baby to the Prajavani grievance programme on Monday and requested Agastya name her. He named the child 'Yashika Sri' after the parents suggested the first letter. Agastya told the Times of India that all credit should go to the doctors and the NGO, saying: 'I only connected them.'
