Kannada star Vishnuvardhan remembered on 75th birth anniversary

Fans and filmmakers are celebrating the 75th birth anniversary of Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan, who died in 2009. The Hindu reports that the actor, known as 'Sahasa Simha', is remembered for his wide range of roles, though directors often typecast him in his later years.

New-gen Kannada filmmakers told The Hindu they envision him in unique roles today. Director Shashank Soghal would cast him in an adaptation of the novel 'Durgaastamana', while Jaishankar Aryar imagines an age-defying love story. Natesh Hegde sees him as a grey-shaded cop in a web series.

Fans are also fighting to establish a memorial for Vishnuvardhan in Bengaluru. The Hindu notes that his role in Kamal Haasan's shelved 'Marudhanayagam' could have showcased his talent to a wider audience.
