Kanwariya shot dead in Bihar, police probe death threat

A 25-year-old Kanwariya, Golu Kumar, was shot dead in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district while on a pilgrimage to Baba Garibnath Temple, police said. The incident occurred near Brahmapur Khakhan village on Sunday evening after Kumar collected water from the Narayani (Gandak) river. He was part of a group of around 60 Kanwariyas.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Saraiya, Abhijit Kaur, stated that Kumar had been in a confrontation earlier in the day and had allegedly received a death threat. Police are conducting a technical investigation to identify the perpetrators. Further action will be based on the findings.
