Kharge asks BJP, RSS members’ freedom struggle role

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday hit back at BJP criticism by questioning the contribution of the BJP and the RSS to India's freedom struggle. Speaking in Goa's Verna, Kharge asked, 'Which BJP person has fought for freedom and independence? Has any RSS member fought for this nation? And they want to teach us patriotism?'

Kharge accused the BJP of branding the Congress anti-national while the RSS had 'never fought for independence' and were 'slaves of the British'. His remarks came after BJP youth workers waved black flags at his convoy near Goa International Airport. Kharge said he wanted to tell them to 'look at the black caps that RSS members wear'.
