Kia Sorento SUV India launch set for 4 September

Kia Motors will launch the premium seven-seater Sorento SUV in India on 4 September, Business Today reports. The Sorento will be the first Kia India model with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. The global model offers a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong hybrid engine and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel unit, but the company has not disclosed India-specific powertrain details. NDTV Profit reports that the hybrid produces 238 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, while the diesel generates 202 bhp and 440 Nm.

The Sorento will feature an AI-powered in-car voice assistant designed for natural conversation, Business Today says. The SUV is expected to be locally assembled to keep prices competitive. Estimated ex-showroom pricing is between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 35 lakh. The AWD version will compete with the Volkswagen Tayron and Skoda Kodiaq.
