Kush Maini keeps F1 dream alive, targets strong F2 finish

Indian racing driver Kush Maini has reaffirmed that Formula 1 remains his goal as he pushes for a strong end to his Formula 2 season. The 25-year-old ART Grand Prix driver has taken two pole positions, one win, and three podiums this season but acknowledges results have not fully reflected his pace. With five races left, Maini says consistency and a super licence are key targets.

Maini is a reserve driver for Alpine and Mahindra Racing in Formula E. He is set to test Alpine’s 2025-spec car at the Red Bull Ring this month. The Hindu notes he has been matching Alpine driver Pierre Gasly in tests, while Hindustan Times reports he remains close to two-time champion Mika Hakkinen, who has helped him rediscover his form.

Maini believes his F1 testing speed proves he can compete at the top level. He has spent extensive time in Alpine’s simulator and says technical feedback is crucial. “In all the tests, I’ve been very quick,” he said, but accepted that many drivers deserve a chance and he must stand out in the remaining races.
