Manu Rishi Chadha draws hate and love for Musharraf role

Actor Manu Rishi Chadha says he is receiving both hate and love for playing General Pervez Musharraf in the web series Operation Safed Sagar. The role depicts Musharraf as the mastermind behind the 1999 Kargil War. The Hindustan Times and Times of India report that Chadha's social media is filled with messages, including one person who wrote they wanted to slap him for the act and hug him for his work.

Chadha told Hindustan Times he knew from the start the role would not win him love. To avoid a caricature, he watched only one or two videos of Musharraf. He sought advice from actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who told him to focus on the character's human side. On set, Chadha stayed in character by avoiding conversations and not improvising, a method he credits to actor Naseeruddin Shah.
