NH-55 collision in Sambalpur injures 2, disrupts traffic

A head-on collision between a truck and a trailer on NH-55 near Dangaghat bridge in Rairakhol, Sambalpur, left two drivers critically injured and disrupted traffic for hours late Saturday night. The accident stranded hundreds of vehicles on both sides of the highway. Police reached the spot after being alerted and began removing the damaged vehicles.

Both injured drivers were first admitted to Rairakhol Medical and later shifted to Burla as their condition turned critical. The cause of the collision is yet to be ascertained. Local resident Sanjay Behera said he heard a loud noise around 1:30 am and found a heavy traffic jam in the morning. A Maharashtra-based driver, Duttatreya Deshmukh, suggested the narrow road might have contributed to the accident, adding that such incidents occur frequently on that stretch.
