Odisha highway collapses in rain, three trucks plunge into ditch

A section of National Highway 53 near Nilachal Bazaar in Odisha's Kendrapara district suddenly collapsed amid heavy rainfall on Wednesday, causing three trucks to overturn and fall into a ditch. The incident occurred on the Paradip-Chandikhol stretch in Marshaghai area.

The newly constructed highway caved in after continuous downpour, leading to the accident. Visuals from the spot showed the trucks lying on their sides beside the damaged road. No casualties have been reported so far, officials said.

Traffic on the stretch has been disrupted, and authorities have rushed to the site for clearance and assessment. The cause of the collapse is being investigated.
