NIA probes cyberattacks on government sites during Operation Sindoor

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches across five states on Monday in connection with attempted distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against 54 government websites during Operation Sindoor. The Times of India reports that the case, registered by the Gujarat ATS on June 25, 2025, involves attempts to target critical computer resources and Critical Information Infrastructure. Two accused have already been arrested.

Searches were carried out in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Bihar and Delhi. Times Now adds that digital devices, including three laptops and five mobile phones, were seized. Suspects who allegedly provided support and skill upgradation for the attacks were identified through technical analysis. The NIA is probing a larger conspiracy linked to the attacks, which aimed to disrupt government systems during the anti-terror operation launched after the Pahalgam terror attack.
