One killed, two hurt as pickup hits container in Bengaluru

A 30-year-old man was killed and two others injured after a pickup vehicle crashed into a goods container parked on National Highway-648 near Ajmal Layout in Devanahalli on Friday. The deceased was identified as Jadiyappa, a resident of Andhra Pradesh. The injured, Pradeep (24) and Nandeesh (23), were travelling with him.

The Devanahalli Traffic Police said the pickup was being driven rashly at high speed by Mahesh (24). The group was returning from Kolar after delivering tomatoes when the driver lost control near Rani Cross flyover and rammed into the rear of the container around 2.30pm. The impact wedged the front of the pickup into the container. Passersby rescued the occupants. Jadiyappa died from severe injuries at hospital. Police have registered a case under sections 285, 281, 125(B) and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against both drivers, alleging the container driver parked without safety measures.
