Pejawara Matha seer visits Delhi Dalit colony, calls for unity

Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji, head of Udupi's Pejawara Matha, visited a Dalit colony in Sector 4, Rohini, Delhi on Sunday as part of his 39th Chaturmasya Vrata. More than 300 residents welcomed him with flowers, rangoli and chants of the Sri Rama mantra. The event was jointly organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Seva Bharati, with similar programmes planned for the next three Sundays.

The seer walked through the settlement, entered five homes, placed photographs of Sri Rama and Udupi Krishna, lit lamps, and asked residents about their names, occupations and education. He initiated them into the Rama mantra, distributed prasad, and advised daily chanting of Rama and Krishna mantras, according to a statement from the Matha.

Addressing a public meeting later, the seer said Sanatan Dharma faces internal and external challenges and urged unity. He appealed to local MLA Kulwant Rana to improve sanitation, upgrade basic amenities and repair dilapidated houses in the colony, if necessary with corporate help.
