Pink and kundan mehendi trends emerge for Teej

Mehendi artists in Delhi-NCR report rising demand for pink mehendi and kundan or rhinestone embellishments for Teej celebrations this year. While traditional deep-brown henna remains the most popular choice, more women are experimenting with unconventional hues and decorative stick-ons to match their outfits, according to artists Soni Khan, Yash, and Shruti interviewed by Times of India.

Pink mehendi uses acrylic colours mixed with special ingredients and does not leave a permanent stain, making it ideal for a single-day affair, said artist Yash. Kundan embellishments add a jewellery-like festive touch, said lifestyle content creator Niharika Jain. Motifs such as paisleys, peacocks, floral jaals, and girls on a jhoola remain favourites, with younger women preferring minimal designs and older women opting for larger patterns featuring deities.

Home-visit fees in Delhi-NCR start at Rs 3,100 for traditional or pink mehendi and Rs 3,500 for kundan mehendi. Artists note that many clients still prefer intricate traditional designs for the festival.
