PM Modi congratulates Lovepreet, Seema on CWG 2026 medals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated weightlifter Lovepreet Singh and discus thrower Seema Kaliramna for winning silver and bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. In posts on X, he praised their determination and wished them success in future endeavours.

Lovepreet narrowly missed gold in the men's +110kg event with a combined lift of 388kg, one kilogram behind New Zealand's David Liti, and set a new Commonwealth Games record in the snatch. Seema earned bronze in the women's discus throw with a best effort of 58.65m, managing only two valid throws in six rounds. India's medal tally stands at 17: three gold, 10 silver and four bronze.
