Modi thanks leaders, Israel hails India on 80th Independence Day

Greater Kashmir reports that PM Narendra Modi thanked leaders from Bhutan, Slovakia, Maldives, France, and Nepal for their Independence Day greetings. He said India cherishes its partnership with Bhutan, looks forward to stronger ties with Slovakia and Maldives, and is committed to strengthening ties with Nepal.

India Today reports that Israeli President Isaac Herzog and PM Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated India. Herzog called for strengthening the 'beautiful friendship' between the countries. Netanyahu said innovation and friendship are 'boundless' and that 'the best is yet to come'. The Israeli Foreign Ministry also extended greetings.

In Herzliya, over 400 Indians attended a flag-hoisting ceremony by the Indian mission. Ambassador J P Singh hoisted the tricolour. More events are planned across Israel, where over 40,000 Indians work.
