Primetime needs $40.3 mn to break top 10 September debuts

Robert Pattinson's upcoming film Primetime needs to earn more than $40.3 million in its opening weekend to enter the top 10 biggest September debuts of all time in North America, according to Box Office Mojo data cited by Koimoi. The A24 comic psychological thriller, inspired by the real-life predator-sting investigation show, follows a television host in 2006 who sets out to make history. Primetime is scheduled for release on September 25.

The all-time September opening weekend leader is It, which collected $123.4 million in 2017. At number 10 is Insidious: Chapter 2 with $40.3 million. To break into the top 5, Primetime must surpass Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' $75.4 million debut. Other films on the list include Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ($111 million), It: Chapter Two ($91.1 million), and The Conjuring: Last Rites ($84 million).
