Rajpal Yadav slams defamation over Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case

Actor Rajpal Yadav has defended his career and character amid ongoing legal and financial troubles linked to a Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. In an interview with ANI, Yadav said that temporary setbacks should not define an artist's entire legacy. He said he gets 500 selfies clicked at every airport and asserted that no one can buy him for any amount of money because he has been 'sold in the name of art since childhood.'

Yadav described himself as a student of Indian cinema and a priest of theatre and films. He said he plans to document his work from 2000 to 2026 to let his body of work speak for his journey, a project he said could take another year or two. The actor's comments come after the Delhi High Court in July upheld his conviction and that of his wife in multiple cheque dishonour cases related to a dispute with Murli Projects Pvt. Ltd.

The court noted that Yadav repeatedly sought time to repay the complainant and gave assurances through his counsel, but failed to fulfil those undertakings despite multiple opportunities. His sentence was initially suspended, but after defaults the court directed him to surrender. Further relief was granted after some payments, but the dispute remains unsettled.
