Telugu actor Ravi Teja has drawn strong criticism after he addressed child artist Nakshatra as 'Muduru Munda' at a pre-release event for the film Irumudi. The clip of the exchange has gone viral on social media, with many calling the language disrespectful.

At the event, Nakshatra asked Ravi Teja to give her a nickname. He replied with the phrase, and when she said she did not understand it, the actor moved on. Telugu360 reports that the online backlash has raised a larger question about the language used by film personalities in public, with critics asking whether the actor would accept similar remarks directed at his own daughter.

The film Irumudi, directed by Shiva Nirvana, is scheduled for release on August 21st.
