Sabalenka says she should have ‘shut up’ after Gauff loss

Aryna Sabalenka has admitted she should have stayed quiet after her 2025 French Open loss to Coco Gauff. In a TIME magazine interview, she said she needed to 'shut up' and speak with her team before facing the press. She had suggested Gauff did not win the match but rather Sabalenka gifted it away.

Sabalenka also revealed she stopped working with her sports psychologist because she was overthinking. She later returned to the same psychologist after a quarterfinal exit at the 2026 French Open. She said the decision was practical, as starting with a new person would require explaining her full story again. The world No.2 has won three titles in 2026 and now prepares for Cincinnati.
