7 killed in stampede at Bihar’s Ashokdham Temple

At least seven devotees were killed and more than a dozen injured in a stampede at the Ashok Dham Temple in Bihar's Lakhisarai district on Monday morning, officials said. The incident occurred around 6:45 am on the third Monday of the holy Shravan month, when a large crowd had gathered to offer prayers. Lakhisarai District Magistrate Shailendra Kumar said the crowd swelled after two trains arrived between 6:30 and 6:45 am, causing barricading to give way and people to fall on each other. The Federal reports that an electric wire snapping and falling also sparked panic, though the exact cause is still being verified.
