Srikkanth rejects Morgan, McCullum for CSK coach, backs Hussey

Former India opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth has ruled out Eoin Morgan and Brendon McCullum as candidates for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach job. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth said Morgan should 'stick to commentary' and warned CSK against appointing McCullum. The comments come after CSK parted ways with Stephen Fleming following 18 seasons.

Ravichandran Ashwin had earlier suggested Morgan's name was being discussed. But Srikkanth, a former CSK player, argued that Morgan lacked coaching experience and had not done well as KKR captain. McCullum coached KKR from 2020 to 2022, taking them to the 2021 IPL final.

Srikkanth instead proposed Michael Hussey, the former CSK opener and current batting coach, as the automatic successor. He added that MS Dhoni's future role in the franchise must be settled first before any coaching decision is confirmed.
