SEVENTEEN’s Vernon begins military service on August 20

K-pop group SEVENTEEN's member Vernon is set to begin his military service on August 20, his agency PLEDIS Entertainment announced on July 27. The rapper, whose real name is Hansol Vernon Chwe, debuted with the group in 2015. PLEDIS has asked fans not to visit the enlistment site or his alternative service location.

Vernon has long spoken about individuality and staying true to oneself. In a recent quote reported by Livemint, he said: 'No matter what, I think it is important to show the world your own colours and just do you. Because if you are not being yourself, then who will?'

During his service, Vernon will be unable to participate in SEVENTEEN's activities. Fellow member DK is scheduled to enlist in September. PLEDIS said both members will continue to connect with fans through pre-prepared content.
