In an Instagram post, Somy Ali said, "Talent doesn't have an expiration date," and stressed that an actor's worth should not be judged by age or the age of their co-star. Bollywood Hungama reports she also called Govinda one of the greatest talents and most humble actors in the industry.

The controversy began when Govinda was seen at the airport with Komal Rani Swarnkar, his co-star in the upcoming film Roopa. Sunita Ahuja later told paparazzi that he was 'roaming with a girl his daughter's age' and called him a 'sugar daddy'. Govinda responded by asking Sunita to stay within her limits. Meanwhile, Hindustan Times reports Govinda recently performed at a club in Pattaya, Thailand, where fan reactions were mixed, with some defending his right to earn and others questioning the venue.
